Here’s a little sex scandal to cheer up your post-Christmas blues or stir you out of your post-Christmas stupor, either with fury or envy.
Weekly tabloid magazine Shukan Bunshun has broken a story about Liberal Democratic Party lawmaker Teru Fukui taking a luxury cruise in Japan’s Inland Sea for two nights with a beautiful woman who works as an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They were snapped arm in arm at the port in Hiroshima on December 22nd, preparing for their trip that would last over the Christmas Eve season, which is a romantic time for couples in Japan.
Such a cruise would cost at least ¥500,000 per person, according to the Shukan Bunshun.
The 65-year-old Fukui apparently, so the rumors in Nagatacho say, had his career curtailed by his womanizing. Despite winning seven elections, he has never become a regular Cabinet minister. Until October this year he was a Minister of State for Special Missions but has yet to receive an important appointment.
In February this year, immediately after landing his first Cabinet post, Shukan Bunshun reported on a past trip Fukui took to Thailand with a lover, whose ¥960,000 cost was covered by someone involved in investment fraud. When confronted with that affair, Fukui admitted it and apologized for the pain he has caused his wife and children. Clearly the lesson was well learned.
While we don’t have any photos from what happened on the cruise ship over Christmas Eve, here is a previously published image allegedly showing a drunk Fukui in the embrace of a younger woman.
Attractive women. Luxury vacations. And all in spite of advancing years and an expanding waistline. Oh, how these politicos live!
