We love to follow the developments of Japanese lingerie brands as ersatz soft-core porn.

The best are Ravijour and Peach John.

After all, no lingerie brand that invents something that stops men from unhooking a bra if they are not the right guy for you has got to have a nice sense of humor.

But we are sad to see that Ravijour has moved away from Japanese models!

Sadly, Ravijour has now joined these ranks in employing foreign girls to advertise its new Candy Fit Bra.

Don’t get us wrong, the ladies are lovely looking. But we would have preferred Japanese.

It apparently offers the best comfortable fit of any bra in their history. Well, that’s all very well and good. But what about the models?!

This is the first time Ravijour has employed non-Japanese models and, no offense, we hope it doesn’t set a precedent. Not being racist or anything but we have our tastes!

Tenga has a habit of turning up in unusual places.

From the garbage on a beach to a Buddhist temple, a business card holder, and even once in the home of comedian Tomonori Jinnai when accidentally shown on a TV show.

Back in 2012 some people stumbled upon this Tenga Egg vending machine in Nakano Broadway, west Tokyo.

It’s a gacha-gacha capsule vending machine, which makes sense for the Tenga Egg. You get a single Tenga Egg for ¥500 and if you are lucky enough to get a ticket in your capsule, you can take it inside to the shop to claim a porn DVD.

We don’t think this is officially endorsed by Tenga but we suspect they would approve, given the company’s love of fun marketing stunts.

Of course, Japan is the land of vending machines and they come in all shapes and sizes. They also sell all manner of things, from drinks to food, toys, newspapers and more. A similar survey in 2012 found that 5.2% of people, or 1 in 19 people, identified as LGBT.

The new survey was conducted on April 7th and April 8th with 69,989 people aged 20-59 across Japan.

However, Dentsu have hedged their findings by saying their survey methodology also changed, so it is hard to make a straight comparison between the 2012 and 2015 research. It may not be that GBLTQ have “increased” in Japan, just that we can identify people (and they can identify themselves) better.

Certainly, though, publicity about sexual minorities in Japan is at an all-time high and for all the right reasons.

Gay and transgender rights have finally gained traction in recent months in Japan.

Ayaka Ichinose and Akane Sugimori got “married” to much media attention, while Shibuya passed an ordinance saying it would recognize same-sex couples.

Transgender and cross-dressing events are also popular now in Tokyo. This weekend is the Tokyo Rainbow Pride festival.

Sometimes they cross a line between what a westerner might understand as “trans” or “gay”, into what exists more in the realm of adult Japanese cosplay regardless of whether the cross-dresser likes boys or girls.

If there’s one thing we’ve learnt from years of blogging about Japanese erotica and sexuality, it’s that nothing is black and white.

And now she is back in the limelight after all her trials and tribulations.

Her new stage in her career? The 60-year-old is really into hiphop and has opened two dance studios, one in Shinjuku and one in Setagaya in Tokyo.

That’s an interesting phrase, especially in Japan, which has a long and vibrant gay culture, even though at the time and now it is not always recognized as “gay” in the modern sense. There were lots of man-on-man sexual relationships among samurai, for example, but we might not call this gay. A gay friend once told us that all Japanese men are just a couple of drinks away from being gay.

M.S.M. also comes out (no pun intended) at a very interesting time for Japanese sexuality.

7.6% of people in Japan identify as gay, lesbian or transgender.

There was a lot of publicity in the mainstream media after a celebrity couple came out and held a wedding ceremony. While same-sex marriage is not legal, Shibuya moved things forward by offering certificates effectively recognizing couples.

Last weekend Tokyo Rainbow Pride Festival was held successfully again, once more attracting the support of the Prime Minister’s wife.

Otoko no ko and other cross-dressing events are also booming right now in Japan.

Our slinky idol this week is actress Meibi Yamanouchi.

Yuki Kashiwagi’s android copy, Yukirin, is getting married to another robot, Frois, a robot designed by Maywa Denki in the likeness of a bath stool.
