The first rule of working in the illegal porn industry is: Never send your work to the police. It’s an unwritten rule because it’s so obvious.
But someone needs to let the underground JAV trade in Osaka know because that’s exactly what six pornographers did!
Since the catalogs they sent included a host of illegal porn DVDs (i.e. uncensored), you are surely only asking for trouble!
How did they commit such an elementary blunder? Well, Toshiharu Hidaka (27) and his gang of five other men didn’t actually post the catalogs to a police station. However, in their efforts to market their materials they sent 80-page catalogs to random men by mail. One they sent some (three catalogs apparently!) to the home of the chief of Osaka police!
However, since the address was not correctly written on the catalogs, the diligent mailman thought he couldn’t officially deliver them to the police chief’s home address — so he took them to the station near to the home. The chief obviously could not remember ordering such catalogs and then took a closer look… especially at the name of the sender.
I guess it proves, though, that even the head of police looks at those smutty leaflets you get through your mail box.
The guys obviously didn’t have mafia connections to protect them either, since police promptly raided their office and seized 280,000 uncensored DVDs. There were also 7,000 erectile dysfunction pills. The six admit their guilt.
The wannabe businessmen were no doubt hoping to start up a porn empire in the seedy city of Osaka. Instead they got a good lesson in marketing their products to the right demographic — and the only the right one!
The six arrested include one woman, who has since been freed for apparently only having a vague connection to the gang.
