You gotta admire the guts of Miyabi Asai, the member of the Kawasaki City local idol group Kawasaki Junjo Komachi whose friend was groped on a train — known as chikan — but then grabbed the culprit and held onto him.
This has made her a bit of a star, thus doing more than even her idol group’s activities ever did to raise Kawasaki’s profile.
One night on the Odakyu Line at the end of June, her 17-year-old friend was groped by a man (38). With Asai’s help they held onto the guy and gave him up to station staff at the next station.
The next day traffic to the idol group’s website went up, as did media inquiries and requests to appear at events.
So there you go, girls. If you want to further your careers, go and get the chikan!
