Tenga has never been satisfied just with making amazing adult toys.
As its past endeavors with advertising contests, nightclub events and art exhibitions show, it is always keen to break out of the mold of “just” designer masturbation.
Its latest project is a special figurine made in collaboration with the manga artist Man Gataro, whose pen name is a pun on manko, or pussy (in Japanese, a star symbol is used between the hiragana for “man” and the kanji for “ga” in the same playful way that symbols like #$@&%* are used to mask expletives in English).
The unique-looking 11cm figurine, featuring a happy mouse running in a Love Me Tenga t-shirt while holding a classic Tenga onacup, is available for a lucky handful of people who make reservations on the official Tenga website and certain Tenga stores in Japan. It will then be available properly from October this year at Tenga stores in Japan if there are any left (Tenga is only making 1,000 available, it seems).
The character is called Dokumi and appears in Man Gataro’s adult gag manga called Mitokon Perestroika (2013-2017). The well-crafted and detailed figurine comes with a base that can fit onto the top of an actual Tenga onacup.
It’s not the first time Tenga has collaborated with artists like this. It previously created a special onacup with Makoto Aida and the overseas wing of Tenga has also released various Keith Haring adult toys.
So does this mean we can expect a return of the Tenga manga this year? We can hope!
