When the PlayStation VR was previewed in 2014, it immediately generated controversy for its “creepy” schoolgirl demo content and ended up being cancelled from that year’s Tokyo Game Show.
Now that the console is released this month, perhaps we can assume Sony has firmly put that unfortunate episode behind it?
Not necessarily, since the demo — Bandai Namco’s Summer Lesson — was actually released as a commercial game, and that means players are going to find and advertise less savory ways to enjoy it.
Which is what this Japanese YouTuber, who made an instructive video to tell the world the best ways to take advantage of panchira opportunities in the game. This basically means looking up the virtual characters’ skirts to see their panties, since apparently all the legions of hotties in Japan aren’t enough for him.
Needless to say, we are sure that the game developers are more than aware of these hidden gems in the game and included them deliberately to sate the appetites of this demographic.
In the game you are meant to play a home tutor to a cute schoolgirl called Hikari Miyamoto. It’s been called a “horror movie” and “unexpectedly creepy” — and even worse a crime, just plain old “boring”.
Either way, it’s certainly not going to do Japan’s reputation as a nation much good, even if it may sell well with gamers of a certain persuasion.
On a more positive note, it’s nice to see that the adult possibilities for virtual reality are actually right there even in mainstream VR game releases as opposed to the in-your-face adult VR content and games being developed elsewhere.
